One last time we packed up our camp, loaded the boats and went a short stretch upriver to Tuidang, near where we were expecting our trucks to wait for us. Alas, there were no trucks and Zorba went into the village to look for them.
It appeared that one truck had gone for some side business, carrying wood to another village and that we simply had to wait. When finally the two trucks did show up, one of the drivers arrived on our loading site in completely reckless fashion and we had to realize that he was hopelessly drunk. We loaded the vehicles and then prevented the driver from stepping up into his cabin, Armin taking the wheel instead.
We left Tuidang shortly after 10.00 a.m. and, after the negotiating the rough dirt road up to the main road leading North, we drove via Bungtlang, Lawngtlai to Lunglei which we finally reached just past midnight, tired from the long and bumpy ride which some had spent sitting on top of the equipment that was loaded onto the truck.
