According to Hindu mythology the river is daughter of Sage Vashistha, and bathing in the waters of the Gomati can wash away one’s sins.

-The Gomti River, also known as the Gomati, is a tributary of the Ganges River. The Gomti originates from Gomat Tall, a lake in Pilibhit, India very close to the nepal boarder.
It extends 805 km through Uttar Pradesh. Here Sultanpur Jaunpur and the state captial Lucknow are located on the banks of the Gomti.
