Brahmaputra, November 6th

River Workers

It was a day of long journey with Kaziranga National park as our destination. We stopped enroute at Nimati ghat for a quick cup of tea and communication on cell phones to tieup with the land support people and our staying near Kaziranga.

Today there was lot of bird life visible on the river and there were many villages all along. Today we passed Majoli – world’s largest riverine island, but did not get to see it as it was on some other channel than the one we were running on. The river for the most part was very broad, maybe four to five kms. at places and therefore at times we did run into shallow channels.

The very sight of Kaziranga was a welcome change in the landscape. It was thick undisturbed forest with excellent undergrowth and we were all looking forward to have a close look at the wildlife that lives within the emerald folds of this eco vault. We stopped at the place where the river Dhanshree meets Brahmaputra and checked into the comfort of Dhanshree Eco Resort for a two night break.
