Starting Again
Today was day of some serious work. We carted our three boats and three engines which had been earlier transported from Delhi and stored in Masood’s warehouse. It was an interesting procession as our boats and engines were carried on hand carts through the busy streets of Dibrugarh to the river front.
After we inflated the boats and fixed engines Andy decided to give a boat ride to the crowd of young kids who had gathered around us. So the Indian part of expedition was kicked off with cheers from the children of the river.
After the joy ride Masood and his friends took us on their large fishing boat to the island across the channel for a picnic lunch. It was here that we were joined by Mirza, another member of the crew from India who will be with us from here onwards. For the evening Masood and Mili had organized a reception for the team at fancy restaurant and it was quite a celeberation with drinks and dinner.
